1. Dakota Lacrosse Association Winter Program
The Dakota Lacrosse Association (DLA) Winter Program is established for all individuals to participate working up to the start of the 2026 DLA Box Lacrosse season . We encourage as many individuals to come out to each session as possible. It is important to stay active within the winter months, and this is a great way to do so!
You do not have to be fully committed to making all sessions for U13 and higher and the 5 sessions for U11 and lower. The program is free of charge and is open to individuals within the community and surrounding areas. It is also highly encouraged to try to get individuals out to the fitness classes which are on Tuesdays and Thursday of each week with Wesley Sunshine who is a world known boxer/jiu-jitsu instructor.

2. Dakota Lacrosse Association Regular Season
Introduction
Welcome to the 2026 Box Lacrosse Season, running from April 20th to June 30th, 2026, at our home, the Fort Qu’Appelle Rex Centre. We are proud to support athletes ages 5 and up across Central East Saskatchewan in developing their skills. The Dakota Lacrosse League’s ‘house program’ will return, adding a 15+ age division (combined U17, Junior, and Senior). For players ages 5-8 and 15+, the house program will include one floor time per week (hybrid practice/game). For players ages 9-14, the house program will include two floor times per week (1 practice + 1 game). Registration in the house program does not guarantee tournaments / exhibition play; however, coaches may select players to attend tournaments, basing decisions on skill, attitude, and attendance. The A-program looks to build on last year's inaugural season with a return to the U15 division. The U15 A-team will operate separately from the house program, with dedicated practice time, season play, and tournament play. Our Senior B Fighting Sioux look to defend the PGLL Title with the addition of two teams: Moose Jaw Mafia and Winnipeg Blizzard. See below for more information.
Our Athletes
The DLA welcomes all lacrosse players – new and experienced – in the Central East region of Saskatchewan to join us for the 2026 season. Proudly founded by Standing Buffalo Dakota Nation, the DLA is committed to providing lacrosse opportunities for its youth and encourages Indigenous youth from surrounding File Hills Qu’Appelle bands to join us and experience the medicine game, gifted by the Creator for its many teachings and healing. Standing Buffalo Dakota Nation also welcomes non-Indigenous youth from surrounding Central East Saskatchewan communities. The DLA is the only Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association Northeast of Regina that offers box lacrosse. We would like to welcome and encourage all athletes and field players from Yorkton, Melville, Churchbridge, Esterhazy, Indian Head, Qu’Appelle, Mclean, Edenwold, Wynyard and any other communities in the area. Zoning rules from the Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association indicate that players may choose to play with their closest association regardless of where they have played in the past. Thus, those who previously registered with Regina ‘QCMBL’ do not require a release to register with the DLA, so long as their residence is closer to Fort Qu’Appelle. This goes for our DLL House League, U15A League and Senior B team.

A 15-player roster, plus 2 goalies, will be finalized by March 22nd, following a formal tryout on Sunday, March 15th. For those unable to attend the formal tryout, players are encouraged to attend at least one Wednesday night winter camp in Lebret so their performance can be evaluated. If a player is unable to attend any of the evaluation methods above due to conflicts with hockey, their performance will be based on last season.
